I used to order carry-out from this place pretty often, but now will probably get my mexican fix elsewhere. The food here was always on the mediocre side, but the low price made it worth it. From the few times I have ate inside, service is very hit or miss. There really isn't a single dish here that makes me have to come back. I am not going to say that this restaurant is the worst ever or anything, but getting lackluster service and lackluster food has pushed me from someone that was a somewhat regular to someone that is now looking elsewhere.

The good first: The prices are great. The salsa is decent and the burrito was good. The bad: I felt like the food was old. The lettuce, tomatoes and rice had that two days ago smell and taste. Chicken enchilada and tacos were sub-par. I prefer Taco Bell by far.

Great Staff, good food! Auto (one of the waiters) makes a great specialty salsa that is awesome if you like spicy stuff! Mojitos are really tasty. Live salsa music every Thursday!

We've been here 6 or 7 times, and the food is always great. You will not go broke, and the service will be excellent.

Just a moment to give Grand Azteca some props for their service. Cinco de Mayo. Dinner time. ... I ingeniously decide I want a tamale after my last review... I call and place a carry out order. 10 minutes. .... 10 minutes for carry out on the busiest Mexican food night ever while balancing dinner service. And my food was perfect. Kudos to you GA!!!!!

My husband and I come here often with our 3 year old, they always have a coupon out for 2 dinners for like 11 bucks, food is good and always comes out super fast we enjoy coming here

We love this place! It's almost a weekly place for us to go and eat. The tortilla chips are warm and fresh and their spicy ranch dip is awesome! I would recommend the Mocajete (chorizo, chicken, shrimp, veggies in a cast iron bowl) served with warm tortillas. The service is great as well!

Food is good and great Mexican atmosphere. It's not your average Mexican-American food it's the real deal Mexican. So good!

I did not like this place at all. We ordered carry out. When we got home we realized they did not put any cheese on the Botana. The meat tasted like left overs, so did the chips, probably from being under the meat. Both meals were way overpriced for the food quality. I will not go back. Taco Bell would have been a better choice.

I truthfully don't know what the big deal is about this place? I have only been to this location 3 x but last time was nail in the coffin.. It started with not fresh tortilla chips. I ordered steak fajitas on the lunch menu. Burnt steak and veggies. I would not be surprised if it was reheated leftovers from day before. Razor thin strips at that. the beans and rice were good, but a portion that would be small for a 4 year old. I do not get why this is so popular. I have been to other Mexican lunch spots and have always had good and generous portions. This place is not one of them. It's just beans and rice bro!

I'm a fan of the Grand Azteca's. That being said, I won't order the fish tacos again. Not too bad; there's better menu options. This Hall road location seems to be a restaurant death trap.

The last time I dined here, this business was a smoked barbeque restaurant. I liked it, but apparently not enough diners agreed with me and apparently they closed up shop. Today's visit was on Azteca's opening day at a new location! I tried to check in, but I couldn't find a listing for them, so I did what I have done countless times before - added the business listing for Yelp. What luck! They carry virtually the same menu as their Groesbeck Highway location, so I was already familiar with the food items offered. In case you need to know, this restaurant is part of a locally owned chain of full-service Mexican restaurants. Casual dining - good for groups, families (including the kiddies), couples, singles - anyone who likes good, solid Mexican food served at reasonable prices. Is it authentic? Well, it isn't French or Italian they're speaking back in the kitchen! Wanna polish up on your Spanish? They will be happy to converse with you. Refreshments include soft drinks and a full bar. They have patio dining available out front facing the highway. Inside dining in the wood-floor dining room allows for viewing some of the TV monitors amply lining the upper walls. The tables are not crowded together, granting plenty of room for casual dining. Once seated by our host, we were offered the complimentary chips -n- salsa that is customary at dine-in Mexican restaurants in the region. Fresh and good (a 2nd load of chips -n- salsa was given for the asking). . Dining with two others, I chose not to order food, as I was still stuffed from a brunch meal earlier in the day. My dining partners ordered enchilada and rice ala carte, and the other ordered a Carnitas dinner. I try to choose my dining partners well. Petite diners often yield left-overs, which I am only happy to assist in disposing of. I must admit, the food at Azteca was every bit as delicious as I expected. Service was impeccable. Food was excellent. The men's rest room was clean and neat. I certainly recommend!

The food was good but I have had better. Loved having three salsa's I just wish the chips were made in house. The owner was very charming and funny and that is why I gave this place 5 stars. I does not matter what the food is like if the front of the house is not up-to-par. They certainly treat you very well here.

he 5 star is based on a $$ place with a bar, Mexican food and atmosphere. This is our go to Mexican place. Great burritos, enchiladas, fajitas and of course their chips are excellent. I am not a fan of the tacos, but everything else I have had there is very good. They have a number of Mexican Beers on tap and the drink specials are generally very good. Service. Their service is excellent. Attentive wait staff who are always friendly and knowledgeable regarding the menu. The atmosphere is laid back and friendly. The tv's are usually turned to the local teams. Great food, drink and people.

After living in Michigan for 30 years, I wound up taking a job in San Diego where I have resided for the last 6 years. Living literally 5 minutes from the Mexican border has resulted in me being able to enjoy some pretty fantastic Mexican food over the last several years. Now, every year I come home to visit since all of my friends and family are still here and usually when I come back someone will tell me that I have to go to some Mexican place because they have the best Mexican food evers!!! Except they never do. The food always winds up tasting like they bought some Ortega taco shells from Meijer and then had a school lunch lady make some generic tacos that are terrible. But then my friend Schuster said I should try Grand Azteca and after buying a bunch of fireworks from down the street I was like hey, why not. First of all, this place offers a California Burrito which is awesome. Now, from what I could tell there weren't any french fries in it which... is sort of the entire reason why a California Burrito is called a California Burrito but despite this, the burrito was covered in delicious cheese and had enough guacamole and sour cream on the side to make it one heck of a good burrito. I opted for the Carne Asada California burrito since, any other choice would be dumb. And the delicious food, along with the insanely quick turn around time from placing an order to receiving the food and a funny/excellent waiter are the reasons why I give this place 5 stars. Additionally, receiving free chips with salsa before the meal made me feel right at home. And despite not having Adobada on the menu, it was still a pretty robust menu with a lot of choices. Long story short, this place is great and I think my giant burrito, along with my girlfriends taco salad, and our two cokes came to about 22 dollars. Which is fantastic for the amount of food you receive and how good it is. This place is now one of my favorite places to eat in Michigan right behind Blue Nile in Ferndale. Nice work Grand Azteca. Well played.

My boyfriend and I stopped here the other night after driving around and wanting something different. We've never been here before but we will certainly be back! No wait on a Friday evening was a plus. Large restaurant and wonderful service. Menu is pretty extensive with so many options that you're left deciding between a bunch of things. There is an ale carte menu so that's a plus. My boyfriend and I both had the fajita burritos. Mine with Chicken. His with steak. Very flavorful and pretty large portion. Tons of veggies stuffed perfectly into two tortillas. You have the option of beans OR rice. I chose beans and they were topped with cheese and weren't dry at all. Never been to a Mexican restaurant that didn't have dry beans! Loved the queso on top of the burritos. Probably my favorite part! Prices were excellent and lots of specials. Definitely get a nice bang for your buck.

I come to this restaurant on a weekly basis and couldn't be happier. The employees are all super friendly, the food is always quick and tastes amazing each and every time. If and when you come to this location, make sure you ask for Ana. You will get the best service you've ever experienced and feel cared about and taken care of. She is one of the many reasons I keep coming back for more!! Viva La Azteca!

My boyfriend and I just left this restaurant and we couldn't be happier. We were contemplating whether to eat at Azteca or Mexican Village. Boy are we ever happy we chose Azteca. We often go to the Azteca on 14 and John R. Today we wanted to try a different location. We will probably always go to this location from now on. The food was literally to die for. My boyfriend got the California burrito and I got the fajitas burrito. We both ate our entire plate. It's not very often that we come across a good waitress. Anna was our waitress and she was by far the best waitress we have ever had, mind you we've been to a lot of restaurants. I highly suggest requesting Anna when you eat at this restaurant. Our bill was only $25 and we shared a 27 ounce Texas margarita and two full meals. Can't beat it. This place is amazing.

Okay Okay, I'm no expert, but the food I had here last week was pretty great. I loved their refried beans. I had the Combination # 31, and it was pretty good. I loved that they had $4 Tequila Sunrises.. My sister and her husband go here all the time, so when they happened to be there last week for my Brother-in-laws birthday I stopped up. They had a little duo playing some mariachi songs, that my nephew just loved... I'd definitely go back. It's relatively inexpensive...the service lacks a tad..but not enough to keep you away. I didn't realize they had so many locations...I'd like to try their tamales!

One of the best Mexican I have had! The wait staff is always friendly with a smile on their face. You get seated almost right away each time. The chips and salsa are great. If you feel daring you can also ask for the green salsa which has a lot of kick to it! I always do their combo meals and never have been disappointed once. Their rice and beans are great, as well as their guac. Last I remember they had live music every Thursday night as well. There is usually a coupon for the place as well in local advertising books. Overall, you get a lot of great food and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg!

I'm a Mexican girl and sometimes I don't feel like cooking or driving down to Detroit to actually have what I call REAL FOOD There's deffinitly a lot of Americanized Mexican restaurants in the suburbs but they all taste like mayonnaise in the taco shell, but if you like flavor, or spice than Azteca is the place for you, I love everything I've ever tried here 5 stars!

I simply love this place!!! The food and drinks are not only CHEAP but also ABSOLUTELY DELISH! Authentic Mexican! I havent been here since I used to work out this way. But Oooh! does it TASTE GOOD to be back. A fellow yelper and great friend introduced this place to me and I'll be forever grateful... IT'S THE BEST! No matter what you order, it's ALL good. They always have lunch & dinner special going on. Oh, and did I mention, half priced margaritas (16 oz. AND 27 oz!) This is the perfect place to dine after the movies!

This place is amazing. Friendly service, reasonable prices, and really delicious food. While my husband tends to stick to one thing (burrito California), I have tried many things on the menu and I have not yet been disappointed. The Arroz con Pollo is delicious, with just the right amount of spice. The Molcajete is incredible, and definitely enough to split with a friend. I cannot say enough about Grand Azteca!

Absolutely loved the food. Service is expeditious. My favs are the lunch taco salad, chicken enchiladas, fajitas...pretty much everything is delicious. Downside: no changing table in restroom for small children. Can change on counter, but not a very sanitary option :(

My family loves this place. The service is fantastic, and the food is very good. Their homemade salsa is probably the best I've had anywhere! Not overly spicy, but FULL of flavor! We go a few times a month.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
